In order to ensure the safe transfer of import and export goods, various documents need to be prepared in the whole transportation process. These documents have their specific uses and are interdependent. They link the ship, port and cargo parties and distinguish their rights and business. Introduce some major cargo documents according to actual business procedures.
Consignment note (BOOKING NOTE)
Shipping documents, commonly known as "delivery paper", are documents that the shipper fills out according to the terms of trade contracts and letters of credit and transacts the goods to the carrier or its agent. The carrier accepts the consignment after considering the contents of the consignment slip and the conditions of the ship's route, port of call, time and space.
Shipping order (SHIPPING ORDER)
A shipping company that accepts the shipper's application for shipment and issues it to the shipper with a document ordering the captain to ship the goods. The bill of lading can be used not only as the basis for loading, but also as one of the main documents for the cargo owner to declare the export goods to the Customs. Therefore, the bill of lading is also called "customs declaration". For the shipper, the bill of lading is the proof of completing the consignment of goods. For a shipping company or its agent, the shipping order is the instruction document for notifying the ship to accept the shipment of the consignment.
Receipt (MATES RECEIPT)
The receipt is also known as the mate's receipt, which is the receipt of the ship's receipt of the goods and the certificate of shipment. The Chief Officer shall sign the Chief Officer's Receipt after checking the date, number of pieces and shipping space on the tally sheet signed by the tallyman and the loading list. The shipper exchanges the shipping bill of lading with the carrier or his agent on the basis of the receipt received by the chief officer. As the main items of the three documents mentioned above are basically the same, the practice of some major ports in China is to combine the consignment bill, the loading bill, the receipt bill, the freight notice and so on to make up to nine documents. The following functions are as follows: first, the bottom is reserved by the booking agent for the purpose of repairing the shipping documents. The second and third parts are freight notices, one of which is retained, and the other part collects freight from the shipper with the bill. The ship can only receive shipment after the fourth shipment list is stamped by the customs. The fifth invoice and the six one will be kept by the cabin crew. The seventh, eighth is the return of matching cabin. The 9 th is the application for payment of port charges for export goods. After the shipment is completed, the port area will collect the miscellaneous fees from the shipper.
Ocean bill of lading (BILL OF LADING)
Bill of lading is a certificate of ownership of goods. The holder of the bill of lading can withdraw the goods, can also borrow money from the bank, and can transfer the goods before the ship arrives at the port of destination.
